Heat transfer printing is a method of transferring a desired pattern via heat onto a substrate. There are two ways to transfer the pattern–with a press or with an inkjet or electrostatic printer. Suitable substrates include paper, plastic, cloth and many others.
The combination of time, temperature and pressure dictates successful printing. Heat press machines should be inspected regularly for worn mechanical parts, and tested for accurate time and temperature readings. Regular operation tests should be performed by test printing typical production items. Inspect the imprint for unevenly colored areas, or ink peeling when using screen printed transfers.
Heat transfer printing is clean and environmentally safe, which makes it appealing in today’s health and safety conscience work environments. There are no suspect liquid by-products. The only byproduct is paper. It is the perfect medium for the demands of today’s marketplace.
